I have been a personal trainer since 2005, when I started Feel Great Personal Training, and am qualified to level 3 on the Register of Exercise Professionals.
Being a personal trainer combines my passion for fitness with a desire to help other people improve their health. Alongside the traditional fitness activities like weight training and running, I enjoy all things active including hiking, surfing, climbing, skiing and, more recently, mountain boarding. I am a black belt in Shotokan karate, and run a local karate class in Pentrecwrt.
Feel Great Personal Training offers personal fitness training in a private gym in Bancyffordd, about 2 miles from Llandysul, around 7 miles from Newcastle Emlyn and within easy reach of Carmarthen and Cardigan.
Feel Great Personal Training gives you an alternative to the mass market, gym based approach to your fitness and health, with one to one fitness training with a qualified personal trainer, with sessions arranged at times to suit you. Your sessions will be tailored to meet your individual needs and goals, whether you are trying to lose weight, tone up, overcome an injury or reduce or prevent low back pain, and all at your own pace, in your own time and in complete privacy.
Activities can include strength training, functional fitness, cardiovascular training, walking, jogging, mountain biking, agility, balance, flexibility training and much more, depending of course on your own preferences and targets. Your personal training program will progress at a rate determined by you. You will never be pushed too hard or beyond your ability as this never achieves good results and while I can't do the hard work for you, I will endeavour to make your personal training as varied and enjoyable as possible, so that you achieve your targets as easily as possible.
I believe that everyone can benefit from an improved level of fitness and diet, and that absolutely everybody can, with a little help, find a way to achieve a healthier and fitter life. It is never too late to make a difference. Having only come to fitness myself about 10 years ago after a previous life as a couch potato, I know first hand how much better and more alive you will feel as you get fitter, and I can also appreciate the difficulties encountered along the way! Over and above all else, my personal training philosophy is that fitness should be fun, and that my role as a personal trainer is to ensure that you find a safe, effective and enjoyable way to get fit.
Having suffered from unexplained pain in my lower back and left hip joints for 3 years, feeling fed up of broken nights, a fear of getting worse (in my fifties, slightly overweight, becoming less mobile etc ), a friend told me about Gill's personal training, so after a visit to my doctors to check that there was no medical reason not to go ahead, it was with a degree of cynicism that I made an appointment. To say that it has change my life is not an understatement. Within about 4 weeks the pain that could not be touched by painkillers lifted, I am fitter, slightly less overweight and now ski, sail and play tennis without feeling like an old crock! She is very fit, looks it, and toned but does not make you feel that you must be exactly the same as her! I now have confidence, feel more in control and much more energetic. Is enjoyable? YES in a strange way, but we do giggle on occasions! Does she make you work hard? YES! Does she push you YES! Try it.
